For many, running is measured by results and that is fine, but for me, running and adventure is measured by the people that the shared experience brings into your life.
I first met Wanda Summers out on the 2008 Marathon des Sables but it took until last spring for our trails to cross again. A simple question "whit hae ye been up tae" left me speechless when the reply was "rebuilding my life after breaking my back and being told I'd never walk again" ....and this conversation was whilst trail running in the Lake District.
I was humbled and excited in equal measure when she asked if I'd write a guest blog on "recovery" for her website. Comparing my ankle to her broken back was impossible but one thing I learned was your own injury is exactly that ...your own to deal with. Hopefully, I captured my experience around the ankle but more also a much wider recovery that the Weber "B" fracture started ...
More importantly, please take a wee bit of time to visit the rest of Wanda's site - a wonderful source of inspiration.
